Let’s briefly go back in time a few weeks: I talked about a number of useful poker tools that have the ability to help you improve your game. You read that you should try using a hand converter, always follow bankroll management, and be sure to have a poker odds table at your desk. I also mentioned that it’s a good idea to find a variety of free poker videos because they’re a great way to become a better player, plus they’re free. If you’ve already gone and downloaded every free video that you can find, though, you might be wondering what’s next. Most players will have earned a couple bucks at the table by now, so you should be able to purchase some more advanced videos with your growing bankroll. Over the next couple months, I will feature a number of the poker training sites that you have the option to sign up for if you’ve learned to love videos.
I’m going to start with GrinderSchool since it was developed for beginner players. A subscription starts at the low price of $10 per month, and for this price you get access to over 600 online poker videos by players that have the profits to demonstrate they are profitable at the stakes they play. They feature seven videos each week, and while almost all of them feature No Limit Hold Em, at least four each month have strategy for different games.
If you play ring games and your focus is No Limit Hold Em, you’ll benefit a lot from a GrinderSchool subscription. There are several 6 max and full ring poker videos, and there are a variety of stakes to choose from. Heads-up players and Limit players might need to wait a little bit longer to see more videos catering to their games. There are, of course, a few videos for Limit and heads-up play, but it might not be sufficient for those that sit mainly in those types of poker. The same can be said for players that want videos for Omaha or other less common types of poker like Draw.
Have you tried Full Tilt’s Rush Poker tournaments yet? Even if you don’t like cash games, GrinderSchool can still help you out. There is a good selection of tournament videos as well, and most of them were created by some talented players. The videos feature buy-ins from $2 to $55, and almost all of them are part of a series. If you enjoy playing in tournaments outside your bankroll, you can also watch the instructors win some satellites.
If MTT poker isn’t your thing but you like Sit-N-Go’s, you’ll be very happy with GrinderSchool. The SNG videos feature mostly the site’s founder, but you’ll also find a couple new top notch instructors. These videos feature stakes between $1 and $33, and while beginner concepts are brought up quite often, there is also a fair amount of more advanced discussion.
I give a big thumbs up to GrinderSchool as a site for beginner players trying real money poker sites. We’ve already seen how low the monthly cost is, and with no sign up fee, it’s almost a no-brainer! If you play mostly Omaha or Stud, you probably should be looking elsewhere, but if you’re a low stakes No Limit Hold Em player, this is the training site for you.
